Collection consists mostly of black and white photographs (copies) of Mrs. King's Alma (Mich.) garden, home (Orchard House), her family, gardener, Frank Ackney, pets, and other animals. Also included are biographical materials (copies) and postcards (copies) that she sent to relatives and Ackney. Materials in the collection documenting her husband, Francis King, include two stock certificates of his company, Republic Motor Truck Company, and a scrapbook about his life and Michigan political and business interests, 1908-1911.

Louisa was an author of nine books, numerous magazine articles, and a series on gardens and gardening. She founded the Garden Club of Michigan (1912), Garden Club of America, and the Woman's National Farm and Garden Association (1914). She received the National War Garden Commission's bronze medal and the American Horticultural Society's George Robert White medal.
